Feddersen embarked on his own artistic Canoe Journeys series (2015-16). [It] involved hand-built, low-fired ceramic figures in various canoes, catamarans, rafts, and inner tubes. […] In his characteristically joyful manner, he desired a freshness and spontaneity for each ceramic, seeing them as three-dimensional gesture drawings. And like his prints, every surface bears the imprint of pattern or texture. The whimsical characters include his friends, Coyote, animal people, and personifications of landscape motifs developed over his career. Though traveling the river together, the pieces seem episodic, reinterpreting historical, legendary, and personal events. — Rachel Allen, Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture
